1. General information about the Zwolse IJsselcup

One of the main goals of UNIque Dance is integration of Same-Sex or Same-Gender couples in the 'regular' dance world and on dance competitions. To UNIque Dance integration is a two way street, so the IJsselcup is open for all couples. This is also common for all the Dutch Same-Sex competitions. Of course the emphasis still lies on Same-Sex or Same-Gender couples. We will control the amount of mixed couples allowed to compete.

This year we offer the following competitions:

The Standard and Latin American competition we provide in a Starters class. Only dance couples with less than 25 lessons can enter in this class. The starters class will not have a selection round.

A 10-Dance competition means that you need to dance all of the Ballroom competition dances. These are: Slow Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Quickstep, Samba, Cha-cha, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive.
Remark: the 10-Dance competition is not exclusive for A-Class couples. Everyone who can dance the 10 required dances may enter the competition!

A Show Dance is a choreography for Standard or Latin American which is performed between the 2.45 and 3.30 minutes. The elements of the Show Dance must be selected from one up to all of the five regular Latin or Standard competition dances.
Show Dance is a very spectacular form of dance. Choreographies may contain lifts for example.

2. Extra Rules

All of the above competitions are offered on just one day. So we will have a very busy day full of dancing. To let all competitions run smoothly, we have defined some extra rules, next to the standard Equality Dance competition rules:

  1. The classes in Standard and Latin are: Starters, D, C, B & A.

  2. To enter the Starters Class a couple may not have had more than 25 lessons. This Class will not have a Selection round .

  3. The D and C class will dance a combined selection round over the following dances:
  4. The B and A class will dance a combined selection round over the following dances:
  5. If a Class after the selection round consists of more than 8 couples, this class will be split in to sub-classes. In example: 10 couple are placed in the C-Class after the selection round. Based on the amount of crosses given, the C-class will be divided in two sub-classes named: "C1" and "C2". The "C1" contains the couples with the most crosses.

  6. The sub-classes mentioned at point 5 will dance in their one final. This way every couple has a change to dance a real final.

  7. The selection round for the 10-Dance competition will be danced over the following dances (only if more than 6 couples):
  8. Everyone can enter the 10-Dance competition. So this competition is nót exclusive for A-Class couples. Of course you must be able to dance all of the 10-Dances. Depended on the amount of registered couples a division in classes may arise which will be equal to a normal competition (so D, C, B, A).

  9. A 10-Dance couple must consist of the same two dancers for all dances. So it is not allowed to change partners between the Standard and Latin disciplines. Dancers with different partners for each discipline can only register for the Standard & Latin competitions.

  10. It is possible to register for the Standard-, Latin- ánd 10-Dance competition. We do advise couples to consider this carefully since all competitions are danced swiftly after each other and there will be not much time to rest or to change ones clothes (see time table).

  11. In case there are to less couple to put together a good 10-Dance competition, the couples will be transferred to the Standard and Latin competitions.

  12. Show Dance will be danced over one round. The adjudicators will judge on the following items:
    1. Technique
    2. Presentation
    3. Overall impression

  13. For each item an adjudicator can award between 1 and 10 points. The couple with the most point after two rounds is the winner of the Show Dance competition.

  14. A Show Dance must meet the following criteria:
  15. All competitions will be judged closed. All results will be published on a central point during the competition.
